Ingredients
Method
- Pour the milk into a small saucepan and warm it over low heat. You want gentle heat, not boiling bubbles. Stir casually and let the milk loosen.
- Sprinkle in the turmeric and stir until it blends into the milk. The color changes slowly first, then suddenly turns into that deep golden shade.
- Add the cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and any optional spices you like. Trust your senses here. If something smells too strong, start with less.
- Add honey or maple syrup. Taste before adding more. Mix gently until everything dissolves.
- Let the mixture heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. It should steam lightly but not bubble aggressively. When it looks silky and golden, turn off the heat.
- Let the golden milk sit for a minute off the heat. Pour into mugs slowly. If you want a smoother drink, strain it through a fine sieve. If you like a little texture, skip that step.
Notes
Golden milk is ideal when:
- You want a caffeine-free night drink
- You’re craving warmth
- Weather turns cold
- You don’t want anything heavy
