Golden Milk Latte

Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings: 2 Servings
Course: Drinks
Cuisine: International

Ingredients

  • 2 cups  milk  dairy or non-dairy
  • 1 teaspoon  ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon  ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon  ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons  honey or maple syrup
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • A pinch of cardamom or nutmeg (optional)

Method

  1. Pour the milk into a small saucepan and warm it over low heat. You want gentle heat, not boiling bubbles. Stir casually and let the milk loosen.
  2. Sprinkle in the turmeric and stir until it blends into the milk. The color changes slowly first, then suddenly turns into that deep golden shade.
  3. Add the cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, and any optional spices you like. Trust your senses here. If something smells too strong, start with less.
  4. Add honey or maple syrup. Taste before adding more. Mix gently until everything dissolves.
  5. Let the mixture heat for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally. It should steam lightly but not bubble aggressively. When it looks silky and golden, turn off the heat.
  6. Let the golden milk sit for a minute off the heat. Pour into mugs slowly. If you want a smoother drink, strain it through a fine sieve. If you like a little texture, skip that step.

Notes

Golden milk is ideal when:
  • You want a caffeine-free night drink
  • You’re craving warmth
  • Weather turns cold
  • You don’t want anything heavy
