Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Prep Time 1 hour 40 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 packet  active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 cup  warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup  granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup  unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon  salt
  • 3-4 cups  all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons  unsalted butter

Honey Cinnamon Butter

  • 1/2  cup  unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup  powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons  honey
  • 1 teaspoon  ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Pour warm water into a small bowl, then sprinkle the yeast over it. Add a pinch of sugar and let it sit for 5–10 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg. Stir well to blend everything together.
  3. Next, add the activated yeast mixture and salt. Gradually mix in the flour, one cup at a time, until the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes. If it sticks too much, add a little more flour, but avoid adding too much as this can make the rolls dense.
  5. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, then cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm, draft-free area for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours
  6.  Transfer it to a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut the dough into 2-inch squares using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
  7. Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30–40 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown on top.

Honey Cinnamon Butter

  1. While the rolls bake, mix softened butter, powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon in a small bowl until smooth and creamy. This irresistible spread adds the perfect touch of sweetness to the warm rolls.

Notes

  • Use fresh yeast: If your yeast doesn’t foam in the first step, start over with a fresh packet.
  • Measure ingredients accurately: Adding too much flour can make the rolls dense instead of light and fluffy.
  • Allow enough rising time: Letting the dough rise properly ensures soft, airy rolls.
  • Brush with butter immediately: This keeps the crust soft and enhances the buttery flavor.
