Pour warm water into a small bowl, then sprinkle the yeast over it. Add a pinch of sugar and let it sit for 5–10 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, and egg. Stir well to blend everything together.
Next, add the activated yeast mixture and salt. Gradually mix in the flour, one cup at a time, until the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky.
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes. If it sticks too much, add a little more flour, but avoid adding too much as this can make the rolls dense.
Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, then cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm, draft-free area for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours
Transfer it to a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut the dough into 2-inch squares using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30–40 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown on top.
