Yum Yum Sauce

Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings: 6 Servings
Course: Side Dish
Cuisine: Asian

Ingredients

  • 1 cup  mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon  ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon  melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon  rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon  sugar
  • ½ teaspoon  paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon  garlic powder
  • 2–4 tablespoons  water

Method

  1. Place the mayonnaise in a bowl. Add the tablespoon of ketchup. This gives the sauce its gentle pink color and a small touch of sweetness without overpowering the flavor.
  2. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly before mixing. Sprinkle in the paprika, garlic powder, sugar, and vinegar.
  3. Add water one tablespoon at a time. Yum yum sauce should be thin enough to drizzle but not watery. Usually 2–4 tablespoons is enough. Stir until smooth
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. The sauce changes dramatically as it chills — it becomes smoother, softer, and much more flavorful.

Notes

Taste and Adjust

Once chilled, taste the sauce and adjust:
  • More paprika for deeper color
  • More vinegar for tang
  • More sugar for sweetness
  • A pinch of cayenne for heat
  • Smoked paprika for a BBQ-style twist
